The First Dance EP is Julius Woods’ debut self-releasing on Spicy Blessings Recordings. Having lived in Atlanta, Copenhagen, Paris and Brussels the past few years, this EP is a collection of impressions and vibes from this era.

The EP opens up with the lead single “Bird Drive”, a whirling techno swinger, featuring an addictive arpeggiated melody, that transitions into dark chord stabs carried by a signature groove. The emotional “You Got Me” has an intricate hi-hat pattern that supports the rhodes in the background. The train inspired samples depict a self-reflective journey, in which you arrive at a conclusion after hours of pondering, illustrated by the muffled vocals exploding to the catchy hook. The second single “Through the Vines” portrays a joyride through the jungle that ends in a dark turn. The sample based “ManiFest” is a motivational anthem sure to make your hips swing. The oldest track “4 My MF Club Heads” is a homage to the Atlanta raving days. “Cafe de la Presse” tastefully rhythmifies a Brussels coffee shop sample into the ever developing drum machine pattern.

As the title suggests, the EP invites its listeners for a first dance with Julius Woods. Let's groove!
